The Conflict Between Ideals in 'Sojourn:" Democracy vs. the Evolan concept of 'Solar Dictatorship'
In my upcoming book, a major theme is the ideological differences between democracy and non-democracy; my main character, Munraito, is essentially Julius Evola's concept of a 'pontifex,' a 'solar leader' who intends to rule with absolute power and inspire reverence and fear of God in his subjects. As a member of a religious order of sorts, he feels that he is a righteous man through all of this, even as he takes his machinations to ever darker extremes. He sees the democratic government of the Republic as 'self-destructive' and believes that it will eventually collapse if nothing is done to reform society greatly.
